It is a preserved, water-based facial cream. A balm contains oils and waxes but no water. This emulsion combines water, glycerin, and lipids, so it can provide hydration and a richer surface feel in one formula.
Start with a pea-size amount for the full face. Warm it between clean fingertips, spread a thin layer, and wait one minute before adding more. Using too much can make any lipid-rich cream feel heavier than intended.
Use it after cleansing and any water-based serum. In the morning, follow with sunscreen. In the evening, use it as the final moisturizing step. Start once daily and adjust based on skin feel.
Glycerin attracts water, while tallow, shea butter, rosehip oil, and jojoba soften the skin's surface. The richer lipids also provide controlled occlusion, meaning a light layer that helps limit moisture loss.
Any formula containing water can support microbial growth without an effective preservation system. This cream uses Spectrastat™ G2 Natural MB to help maintain formula integrity during normal storage and use.
